Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study, Harvard University
Project: Web Operations Management Assessment and Strategic Roadmap
Challenge:
Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study, an interdisciplinary center for learning and scholarship based at Harvard University, needed a strategic approach for its Web site. For many years, the site was managed in a tactical way and treated as if it was a printed publication with seasonal updates.
Outcome:
Our team compiled a written assessment of the Institute’s Web operations after meeting with key stakeholders and reviewing existing processes. It highlighted key issues to be addressed. We also created a strategic roadmap recommending the phases and tactics needed to achieve these goals in an 18-month timeframe, including:
- Phase 1: Create and implement Web governance model, define Web application need and publishing standards, select and deploy a content management system
- Phase 2: Communicate the changes to constituent groups, create requirements for Web content, evaluate CMS effectiveness
- Phase 3: Monitor and revise Web strategy, develop Web applications, craft technical architecture
